Hi! Welcome to my class website. My name is Mrs. Reidy and I'm very excited about the upcoming school year. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you in the next few days, and would like to share a little bit about myself. I'm what one might call a late bloomer. I didn't really know what career path to take following graduation. I worked at our local hospital for 20 years as a Nurse's Assistant and Ward Clerk. Then in 1981, I was hired as a Teacher's Assistant at one of our local elementary schools. By then my youngest daughter was just starting first grade. After my oldest daughter finished her freshman year of college she insisted that I give college a try. I had my old high school dust of my records and send them to the University of Northern Iowa . I was accepted, to my surprise, and began my five year journey. I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Library Science. I have been teaching first grade for the past eight years and truly enjoy it.  Prior to this position I was a K-12 Media specialist for two years. My hobbies include quilting, reading, and working on this website. I am an avid bowler and am currently serving my third year as the President of the newly formed Iowa State USBC Women's Bowling Association. My husband, Donnie and I are life long residents of Independence. We celebrated our 38th anniversary this July with a dream trip to Ireland. Donnie is a barber and owns his own business here in Independence.

Our four children are all grown with families of their own. We are blessed with twelve grandchildren (6 girls and 6 boys) and two step grandsons.
