I want to introduce you to our DAISY'S Notebook.
This is a very important part of my teaching because it is a means of communicating with my parents! As you may have noticed,
DAISY'S is an acronym for Daily Announcements and Information for the School Year Success. Students are required to take
this binder home every afternoon and bringing it back to school the next morning. I ask that you check the binder each night
and I will check it each morning. Here is how it is organized:
• The front
pocket of the binder will be used for any forms that you are asked to return such as Permission slips, Conference forms, and
Homework assignments.
• The Zippered Pencil Pouch will be used for lunch
money, field trip money, book order money or donation money. Keeping the money in this pouch helps students keep track of
it and prevents it from getting lost in transit.
• Notebook Paper is used
for notes between parents and teacher. I will be writing notes to you in this section and looking for communications from
you there. PLEASE DATE EACH ENTRY! Please check this section daily and I will do the same. I also ask that you initial all
notes and I will do the same. This way we will know that the notes have been read even when no response in necessary. Please
leave all notes that we write to each other in the notebook so that we can look back and remember any communications we may
have had.
• The Sheet Protectors contain the following items:
a calendar for the school year
our daily schedule
our class list
DAISY'S Notebook information
•
The single pocket folder will be used for communications from school and other information sent through the school.
• The Yellow Folder will be the student folder. They will put their finished work
in one pocket and any homework assignments in the other.
The plastic folder in the back will be used
to carry cart books to and from school.
Please check the DAISY'S every evening and review the materials
with your student.
